Outhold is a beautifully minimalist real-time strategy (RTS) and tower defense hybrid. Unlike traditional tower defense games where enemies follow a set path, Outhold challenges you to actively expand your kingdom tile by tile. You must balance your economy with your military defense in a procedurally generating world.

The game is famous for its "easy to learn, hard to master" gameplay loop. You start with a single castle and must pay gold to reveal adjacent tiles. Some tiles contain resources, while others hide enemy spawn points. Your goal is to expand as far as possible while building adequate defenses to protect your keep from nightly invasions.

Strategy Tips for New Players

1. Don't Expand Too Fast: This is the #1 mistake. Revealing tiles costs gold. If you spend all your money exploring and reveal an enemy spawner without enough gold left to build a tower, you will lose.
2. Economy First: In the early game, prioritize building Farms. You need a strong steady income to afford expensive cannons in the late game.
3. Use Choke Points: Since you control which tiles are revealed, try to shape the map so enemies are forced to funnel through narrow areas where your towers are concentrated.
4. Layer Your Defenses: Don't just rely on Archers. Walls are cheap and essential for delaying enemies while your towers deal damage. Place walls in front of your valuable resource buildings.
